Are you struggling with chronic fatigue, morning nausea, or brain fog? Do you find yourself searching for natural and holistic solutions to diarrhea, constipation, bloating, or other gut-related symptoms? If so, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to live with these issues forever.
Today, I want to share the story of Melissa, a client who faced these exact problems. She was tired all the time, felt nauseous every morning, and had trouble focusing due to brain fog. But through functional testing, Melissa found real answers—and finally started feeling like herself again.
When It Feels Like Nothing is Working
When Melissa first came to see me, she was really frustrated. She had already been to a functionally trained doctor who had run blood tests, prescribed medications, and suggested some supplements. Despite following the doctor’s advice, Melissa still didn’t feel better. She knew something was wrong, but she couldn’t figure out what it was.
Melissa’s story is one I’ve heard many times before. When you’re not feeling well, it can be hard to explain your symptoms to others. It’s even harder when you’ve tried different treatments, but nothing seems to work. You start to wonder if you’ll ever feel better again. If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone.
Finding the Hidden Causes of Chronic Gut Symptoms
To help Melissa, we needed to dig deeper. Sometimes, blood tests don’t show the whole picture when it comes to chronic gut symptoms like bloating, diarrhea, or constipation. That’s why I rely on a special test called a GI map, which is a stool test that looks for hidden issues in the gut. The results were eye-opening: we found that Melissa had an infection called H. pylori, an overgrowth of bad bacteria, harmful pathogens, and even a parasite! These were likely causing many of the gut-related symptoms she was experiencing.
I talk more about how these findings connected to Melissa’s symptoms in Episode 15 of my podcast, which you can find on Spotify and

The Relief of Finally Knowing the Root Cause
For Melissa, just knowing what was wrong was a huge relief. It’s one thing to feel bad, but it’s even worse when you don’t know why. Understanding the root causes of her symptoms made all the difference. This is a crucial part of the healing process—knowing that your symptoms are real, that they have a cause, and that there is a path to feeling better.
Creating a Plan for Healing Chronic Gut Issues
Melissa’s journey didn’t stop with just one test. We took the information from the GI map and created a personalized plan to help her start healing. Over the next six months, Melissa followed the plan, which included dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, and targeted supplements to address her gut health. It wasn’t always easy, and it took time, but slowly, Melissa started to feel better.
Her digestive issues, such as bloating and constipation, improved, she had more energy, and her brain fog began to clear. It was amazing to see her progress and watch her reclaim her health and her life.

I’m sharing Melissa’s story because I want you to know that there is hope. If you’re struggling with chronic gut issues like diarrhea, constipation, bloating, or other symptoms that just won’t go away, functional testing might be the answer you’ve been looking for.
